Prof. Roland T. Rust holds the David Bruce Smith Chair in Marketing at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, where he is Chair of the Marketing Department and is Executive Director of the Center for Excellence in Service. His lifetime achievement honors include the American Marketing Association’s Gilbert A. Churchill Award for Lifetime Achievement in Marketing Research, the Outstanding Contributions to Research in Advertising award from the American Academy of Advertising, the AMA’s Career Contributions to the Services Discipline Award, Fellow of the American Statistical Association, the Elsevier Distinguished Marketing Scholar Award from SMA, and the Henry Latané Distinguished Doctoral Alumnus Award from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He has won best article awards for articles in Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing (three times), Journal of Advertising, and Journal of Retailing, as well as MSI’s Robert D. Buzzell Best Paper Award (twice). His book, Driving Customer Equity (written with Valarie Zeithaml and Katherine Lemon) won the Berry-AMA Book Prize for the best marketing book of the previous three years. He is the founder and Chair of the AMA’s annual Frontiers in Services Conference, and was founding Editor of the Journal of Service Research. He is currently Editor of the Journal of Marketing. He has consulted with many leading companies worldwide, including such companies as American Airlines, AT&T, Chase Manhattan Bank, Comcast, Dow Chemical, DuPont, Eli Lilly, FedEx, Hershey, IBM, Microsoft, Nortel, Procter & Gamble, Sears, Unilever, and USAA.

Prof. Roderick J. Brodie is Associate Dean and Professor of Marketing at the University of Auckland Business School, New Zealand. His research and consulting experience are in the areas of strategy, branding, services, and market analysis. He has consulted extensively with government and business organisations and been an expert witness in a number of landmark legal cases. He has addressed many international conferences, forums, and seminars and has held visiting positions at leading business schools in the US and Europe. His publications have appeared in top journals (Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Management Science, & Journal of Services Research) and he undertakes extensive editorial work with these journals. He was the founding president of the Australia New Zealand Marketing Academy and his contributions has been recognized with awards; Distinguished Educator (1998), Distinguished Researcher (2002), Founding Fellow (2004). He has also received the Distinguished Service Contribution (2004) Sustained Research Excellence (2004) awards at the University of Auckland Business School.

Mr. Alfred Chan has been Director of the Board and Managing Director of The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) since 1997. He has more than 30 years experience in marketing, manufacturing, engineering, business development and general administration. He joined Towngas as General Manager - Marketing in 1992, responsible for the marketing of town gas and gas appliances as well as corporate communications. His scope of responsibilities was expanded to include customer services when he assumed the position of General Manager - Marketing and Customer Service in 1995.
Over the years, Mr. Chan has successfully transformed Towngas from a traditional utility company into a household icon now known for its superb customer service and attention to quality living. These brand attributes buoy Towngas’ presence in mainland China, where the Company has a growing number of city piped gas joint ventures and specialized energy infrastructure projects.
Mr. Chan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from The University of Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and serves on several professional councils.
Mr. Chan is keenly interested in higher education, and has several advisory role positions at universities both locally and in the mainland.

Ms. Viveca Chan is the founder of WE Worldwide Partners. The Company was established in October 2005, and is a consortium of independent agencies in China (including Hong Kong). Previously, Viveca was the Group Chairman and CEO of Grey Global Group China/Hong Kong, one of the top ten advertising agencies in the world. Viveca joined Grey in 1979 when it was first founded and was instrumental in building Grey from an advertising agency to a leading integrated communications group.
Viveca plays an active role in the industry. She is Deputy Director of China Advertising Association, Chairman of Hong Kong Trade Development Council Marketing Services Committee, Chairman of HKMA Public Relations Committee, Council Member of Superbrands China and Great China CRM, Associate Professor of Fudan University (Shanghai) and Nanjing Economic University. She serves on the advisory board of a number of marketing and advertising institutes, including HK Institute of Marketing, Department of Management of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Economic Observer/ HKMA China Marketing Awards, Modern Advertising, China Advertising, 21st Century advertising and Successful Marketing.
Viveca is recognized as a business leader and a though leader in the industry. She was named one of the 17 Global “Women Breaking Barriers” by Ad Age, Top 100 Entrepreneurs in China, Top Ten Advertising Executives by Modern Advertising and one of ten “The Most Successful Women 2004” by Jessica Magazine. Viveca has published numerous articles and a Chinese book entitled “Driven by Results and Grey”. She is one of the most known people in the industry.

Mr. Anant Deboor heads strategic planning for JWT HK: working on HSBC, Rolex among other brands. He has been a HK resident since 2000 – initially as Strategic Planning Director with JWT. From 2002 to 2005, he was Regional Planning Director for JWT Asia-Pacific looking after Unilever’s Food brands – Lipton and Knorr.
He is a JWT veteran – being with them almost uninterrupted since 1989 when he started as an account trainee in Bangalore, India. He has worked on brands like Pepsi, Nestle, Cadbury’s, Johnson & Johnson, Sunsilk, Lux, Denim, Close-up, Sheraton to many others.
Mr. Deboor is married and has two sons aged 13 and 3. He is passionate about motorcycles, motor-racing, travel, gourmet cooking, Australian wine, music and children.

Mrs. Margaret Leung is General Manager Global Co-Head Commercial Banking for the HSBC Group, responsible for the Group’s relationship with all middle market corporates and small medium enterprises in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
Mrs. Leung joined HSBC in Hong Kong in 1978. She moved to Australia to help set up Hongkong Bank of Australia Ltd in 1985. On returning to Hong Kong in 1988, she held a number of positions before being appointed a Group General Manager in 2005.
Mrs. Leung is a director of HSBC Investments (Hong Kong) Limited, HSBC Insurance (Asia-Pacific) Holdings Limited and HSBC Precision Printing (Hong Kong) Limited.

Mr. Alan Wong is the Director of Marketing of DHL Express Hong Kong, responsible for developing new business development strategies and marketing initiatives with a view to supporting DHL Hong Kong in achieving the profitability and revenue growth targets. He also directs and supervises all branding and marketing activities.
Mr. Wong joined DHL as a planning manager in 1996. He was made Product Development and Sector Manager of DHL Express Hong Kong in 1997. Prior to being appointed to his current position, Mr. Wong was the National Marketing Manager of DHL-Sinotrans, a DHL joint venture in China, from 1999 to 2005. Based in Beijing, he set up and managed a full-fledged marketing department from scratch, driving DHL’s marketing communications, pricing strategy, and product research and planning functions across China. He played an instrumental role in positioning DHL-Sinotrans as the most innovative and customer-oriented leader in express and logistics industry in China, launching new products including China Domestic, Import Express and Time-Definite Delivery.
Mr. Wong graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA degree in Marketing and Finance. He also received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Eden Woon is Vice President, Greater China for Starbucks Coffee Company. Dr. Woon is responsible for Government Affairs, Public Relations, and Corporate Social Responsibility and is based at the Starbucks Greater China headquarters in Shanghai, China.
Prior to joining Starbucks, Dr Woon was the CEO of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the oldest and largest business organization in Hong Kong with around 4,000 corporate members, from May, 1997 to April, 2006.
From 1994-1997, he served as Executive Director of the Washington State China Relations Council. A career U.S. Air Force officer who retired as a Colonel in 1993, Dr. Woon served as China policy advisor for the U.S. Secretary of Defense from 1989-94, and was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing from 1983-85. Dr. Woon, who has a Ph.D in mathematics, was an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the late 1970s at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Dr. Woon is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations based in New York. He is on the board of the Hong Kong Ocean Park Corporation and the Hong Kong Government’s Committee on Economic Development and Economic Cooperation with the Mainland of the Strategic Development Commission. Dr Woon is also an economic advisor for Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Hebei, and Henan Provinces, and for the City of Tianjin.
